By February of 2008 the pain and discomfort was so great that when I had my consultation with Dr. Jing and she told me she could help but would only promise 75 to 80% recovery, I decided to try one or two treatments and see. After the second treatment I could bend my knee without pain, however, it did tighten up somewhat during the time between my bi-weekly treatments. Immediately after the first treatment the constant pain disappeared and I wanted to give acupuncture a proper chance to work.
Initially I had four treatments in two weeks. By then I was able to resume doing Yoga. After that Dr. Jing dialed it down to six weekly treatments, and I resumed my fast walking exercise. I still continued to go every other week for another month, then once a month in April and May. I didn't go over the summer and the last time I had a treatment was in September of 2008. It is now March of 2009 and while there is no doubt that I still have the tear in my meniscus it doesn't bother me at all and my knee is completely healed –- there is no stiffness, or pain no matter how active I am. I walk and use a stair climber and an elliptical trainer three times a week. I would recommend acupuncture as an alternative to anyone who is contemplating a surgical procedure that can also be treated by acupuncture. And I would recommend Dr. Jing to everyone who decides to receive acupuncture as she is the greatest!!!
